At the end of the 3-day competition, the USA win the third edition of the Evian Juniors Cup for the third year in a row, ahead of Italy and Japan.
The young American Bailey Shoemaker was victorious on the greens in Evian thanks to a magnificent eagle on 18. Bailey can now add another new victory to her young career, having won the Section 4 girls golf championships in May. The young American carded 69 (-2) today to produce an aggregate score of 213 (E) over the three rounds, 4 shots ahead of her compatriot Sara Im. The Czech Denisa Vodickova takes the third step on the podium with a score of 218 (+5).
In the boys’ category, it is also the American Eric Lee who takes first place with a final score of 212 (-1). He is followed by the Italian Marco Florioli (213 - E) and Japan's Eita Nakagawa and Misakimi Yoshizawa, who both finish on 215 (+2).
Other noteworthy performances were made by the French player Vairana Heck and the Italian Riccardo Tosi, both of whom made a hole-in-one on the 8th hole.
The thirteen editions of the Evian Championship Juniors Cup have brought some of today’s golfing talents to the fore, professional players such as Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Aditi Ashok and Leona Maguire, and the world’s top amateurs including Albane Valenzuela and Agathe Laisné.
Let’s keep an eye on these young champions who received lifetime membership for the Evian Resort Golf Club at the prize-giving ceremony.
