The Evian Juniors Cup

Since 2007, the Juniors Cup brought together the world’s top under-14 amateurs. An incredible opportunity for these young talents to meet the international golf elite and walk in their footsteps.

The thirteen editions of the Evian Championship Juniors Cup have brought some of today’s golfing talents to the fore.

A look back at the 2019 edition

For its 13th edition, the Evian Juniors Cup, held on 24, 25 and 26 September, welcomed 16 teams and 64 participants, representing 15 nations (with 2 teams from France), to the course at the Evian Resort Golf Club over 3 rounds (for the first time this year!).

In 2019, the USA win the third edition of the Evian Juniors Cup for the third year in a row, ahead of Italy and Japan.

The young American Bailey Shoemaker was victorious on the greens in Evian thanks to a magnificent eagle on 18.
Bailey carded 69 (-2) today to produce an aggregate score of 213 (E) over the three rounds, 4 shots ahead of her compatriot Sara Im

In the boys’ category, it is also the American Eric Lee who takes first place with a final score of 212 (-1).

A bit of history

The first Juniors Cup brought together the world’s top under-14 amateurs from 15 countries. An incredible opportunity for these young talents to meet the international elite in women’s golf and walk in their footsteps on the course at the Evian Resort Golf Club.

Among them, 2 american boys will soon become exceptional athletes. Justin Thomas, who finished second this year, and his best friend, Jordan Spieth walked down the Evian REsort Golf Club's greens rooting for the United States of America.

Alexa Pano, the phenomenon

The young 15-year-old American is considered to be the rising star in women’s golf.

Alexa already has 6 wins to her name, 4 of which she claimed this year. 42nd in the amateur world rankings, just a few weeks ago she won the Junior Solheim Cup with the US team, undefeated for 12 years.

The young player won the Evian Juniors Cup last year, with a 4-shot lead over Amalie Leth-Nissen, the young Dane.

Viktor Hovland, recordman

A regular in Evian, the young Norwegian who turned pro in June is used to performing at the top level. Viktor Hovland has made a name for himself in professional golf thanks to his noteworthy win at the US Amateur.

Invited to play the Masters, and then the US Open, he finished 12th at Pebble Beach, taking the place of Jack Nicklaus as the best amateur.

Viktor has already played a number of times on the greens in Evian, in 2012 when he finished 5th at the Evian Juniors Cup and in 2018 at the Arnold Palmer Cup.

Pauline Roussin-Bouchard, Evian Ambassador

Pauline Roussin-Bouchard knows the Evian Resort Golf Club well, having competed 3 times in the final of the Haribo Kids Cup (U12) followed by The Evian Juniors Cup (U14) and finally the Evian Junior Event (U18).

This year the young amateur shone at the Jabra Ladies Open, the qualifier for the Major.

She finished runner-up in the European tournament and won her ticket to return to Evian last July.

The young French player chose to continue her education at South Carolina University, where she has been since September.

Anne Van Dam, power player

What a year for Anne Van Dam. The young Dutch player, known for her high-power swing (the longest on the LPGA Tour), recently won her first Solheim Cup with the European team.

We saw Anne play in Evian against the world’s elite for the first time in 2010 at the 4th Evian Juniors Cup.

She returned in 2016 to compete in the qualifying phases and since then has taken part in every edition of The Evian Championship.
